Attached to Otterburn Mill is a 25 acre field, which lends itself to outdoor events. To celebrate the millenium we started the Otterburn Festival to show off local craft and local history.
In 2001 we had a bad outbreak of Foot & Mouth in our area, which closed down all the country shows. A large number of farmers still wanted a country show, so we changed the festival into a show of vintage farming machinery and tractors. The show was a huge success and all the exhibitors demanded that we run the show again for the following year.
By 2002 the number of exhibitors had doubled and we had the addition of an old fairground organ, which is restored to working order. The 2-day show attracted over 5,000 visitors and raised over £3,000 for the Northumberland Air Ambulance Appeal.
The Festival is now a yearly event. Come along and have a great day out for all the family in beautiful Northumberland. We have vintage cars, buses, lorries, push bikes and steam engines along with side shows, local crafts and trade shows.
