Gardens & Exploring
With a garden, picnic field and walks to explore further afield, Otterburn is the perfect place to get outdoors! Our secure garden positioned at the front of the historic mill buildings features a play area for little ones. Kids can climb, slide and explore to their hearts content while you enjoy a cuppa. Our large picnic field is also a great spot by the river to enjoy a bite to eat outdoors.
The fields and footpaths edging the former textile mill are perfect for a stroll. If you fancy a moderate grade walk, the two-mile Otterburn Village Trail is one of the Northumberland National Park Rangers’ favourite walks, and it starts and finishes from the car park at Otterburn Mill. This self-guided trail should take approximately 2 hours and is a great way to explore the countryside, encompassing grasslands and public footpaths. Along the route you might be fortunate enough to see otters, several species of birds and a diverse range of flowers.
Also nestled on site at Otterburn Mill is Purple Haze Flowers, a florist selling a range of seasonal flowers and bouquets from their shop. Offering bespoke floral design for weddings and events, Purple Haze Flowers give a unique service in that they impose no minimum spend when planning your big day.
